Lost iSight Camera after Mountain Lion upgrade

I have tried all the iSight trouble shooting tips. Looked at all the forums and still "no camera connected". I have a early 2008 MBP that was working fine with Lion and everything else is working fine with Mountain Lion except the camera. I have tried intalling Skype and Facebook video chat to see if they could find the camera with no luck. The system profile does not show anthing resembling iSight in the USB pane but there are several "apple device" listed. HELP! My daughter just left for college this week and this is the way we keep in touch.

Thanks in advance for any help

Mende1,

Thanks but as I stated I have tried all iSight trouble shooting. My iSight does not show up in the system profiler I don't believe it is a hardware issue that just magically occurred when I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I have read forums until I think my head will explode and this is a common problem that happens when upgrading. I need to find a script to add my iSight camera back. There are a few of them for Snow Leapord and Lion but nothing I could find for Mounatain Lion. Thanks again for any help.

I have reset my SMC and Pram. I can't reinstall until Monday when I can acess the disk besides from what I read reinstalling usally doesn't work. Somehow in the upgrade process the iSight camera gets "lost" and I need to recreate the path for the OS to find it. I have done a lot of research and I'm looking for someone who has actually managed to fix this in some fashion other than the standard fixes floating about the internet. I really appreciate your help but I would like to Facetime my daughter tonight after her first day back at school.

No solutions I'm afraid, but thought I'd just to the thread.

I have the same issue (2009 MBP 15")

I did get isight working briefly after resetting the SMC and PRAM, and then leaving the machine shutdown for 30mins +, it works, then as soon as it's turned off again - ie qutting the app using it, changing mode, ie pausing skype, no more isight.

I really hope it gets fixed in 10.8.2.
