Any tips to remove screen protector?

I have an inexpensive screen protector (from Amazon) on my iPod that is a bit scratched up, so I want to replace it. Only the old one won't come off. I've tried using an Xacto knife (point) in the corners and around the home button, but I cant get it under the protector. I even attempted to cut the protector below the home button, but it is too strong and won't cut. I've replaced screen protectors before without any problem, but this one just won't come up. Does anyone have any tricks to help me remove this.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I have tried all the ideas (but one) on the various Googled sites and nothing worked. The tape (both Scotch and super (Gorilla Brand) Duct Tape was useless and most of the other suggestions (all of which I tried) were just safer plastic substitutes to using the X-Acto knife I originally tried. The one thing I didn't try was the hair dryer as the instruction was to first remove the battery to disable the device (it was written for a generic smartphone). Dare I try it on the iPod with the battery in? The other thing i thought of was to attach the duct tape to the screen corner using super glue and then try lifting it. But, if that fails I will end up with a bump on the screen protector and won't be able to try my option of last resort which is to put the new protector on top of the old one and hope that it will adhere enough to the old one so that I will eventually be able to lift off the thicker multi-layered protectors. Thoughts?
