how can i change my icloud name without losing my contacts on my iphone 4. I have a new apple id and want to back up to that

Got to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn syncing for contacts and your data to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone. When everything is off you can scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Then set up your new account and turn syncing for contacts, etc. back on. If prompted choose to merge data. This will upload the data on your phone to the new account.
