Aug 18, 2012 8:51 PM in response to clairefromcaby sberman,Yes, it should work because it's in the printer list accessible near the top of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
I have an Epson Workforce 645. I found the first time I went to scan under Mountain Lion, I had to try several times opening the printer in System Preferences --> Print and Scan. It eventually worked.

Aug 18, 2012 9:28 PM in response to clairefromcaby mende1,Apple said that it can print and scan. Open System Preferences > Print and Scan and press - button. Finally, press + button, select the printer and it will install the printer drivers

Oct 21, 2012 4:09 PM in response to clairefromcaby tasa,I've gone through the update process and the driver Apple is providing for the scanning portion of the Epson RX620 is really a poor excuse for what used to be. Few options as to settings, no abiity to combine multiple pages into one document as far as I can tell, no documentation to explain anything. I am not happy about the possibility of having to invest in third-party scanner software, if that is the case. Any help appreciated!

Oct 21, 2012 4:16 PM in response to tasaby tasa,Correction to my earlier post: there is a combine option. Missed it the first time around. Nevertheless, the options are still very limited, no option to add an icon to the doc so I have to go into System Preferences to access the scanner function, just generally clunky! Bad Apple!

Jan 10, 2013 9:18 PM in response to clairefromcaby randynchicago,I have the same question - my Epson RX580 shows up as a printer and I can print to it just fine, but I cannot scan. I don't see any scan utility. Epson website tells you to download Epson Scan from their main home page, but I cannot find Epson Scan on their website anywhere. I googled Epson Scan, download it from Macupdate.com but get an error message whenever it is launched. (I have not yet plugged the RX580 USB directly into my MBP, I was hoping to scan over the network!)

Jan 10, 2013 10:46 PM in response to randynchicagoby tasa,Since I last posted I began using Image Capture to download all photos from iOS devices, and discovered that Image Capture has a very good scan utility built into it. I also find it more satisfactory than iPhoto for downloading, as all items are easily visible from the desktop. iPhoto drives me nuts and I was looking for more control over my photos, so Image Capture has become a great substitute. If I want to import something to iPhoto, I can, but all my photos, in the meantime, aren't tied up in iPhoto. Anyway, give Image Capture a try for its scan utility. It's very versatile, almost as good as the original Epson software.
