Ipad 3 loss of connection every couple of minutes

I am near the point of giving up with my Ipad 3. I have tried all resolutions without success. My ipad keeps dropping connection from both wifi and 3g.I always have.a full strength signal but it still drops. All my other devices including an Ipad1 work with no issues so I know its not mine or my friends wifi routers.

My last resort is to take to an Apple outlet but from what I have seen they may exchange your device but the issue is still there.Anyoe else got this issue and found a fix??.

Cheers

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

If any of the above solutions work, please post back what solved your problem. It will help others with the same problem.

Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

Aug 19, 2012 1:43 PM in response to Texas Mac Man

Stevehamo1967, I completely identify with you. My iPad 3 keeps losing wifi connection for no reason. It happens about every 5 minutes. All other devices in my house - iPhone, laptops, tvs, lg phone, etc are just fine. It is almost as though it just keeps forgetting that it's connected. I go into settings - network - wifi and it suddenly remembers, and I am fine for 5-15 more minutes. And it immediately reconnects the instant you look at wifi connections. And it will never reconnect in the session unless you do this or reboot.

To my knowledge (from what I am now reading) many people see this issue. It happens all the time to me and I have exhausted searches trying to find a resolution. I can't tell if guys like Texas Mac man are paid by apple to give crap answers or if he actually doesn't know about this issue, but either way, giving 1990s suggestions is pretty lame.

Here is what will absolutely not work (all you people giving suggestions please read this and stop suggesting it):

1. Rebooting your router. This actually for some reason sometimes seems to work for about 30 minutes so I can't tell if it's just luck or coincidence or something to do with their issue. And I have used three different routers in two different locations with the same results. It is not a long term solution.

2. Forgetting the network and choosing your router again. Strangely, this actually does show full bars (like magic as some Jobs-lovers suggest) when returning to your router. But this lasts for just seconds. This might suggest that the issue is resolved for a split second before returning to whatever the initial reception issue was, or apple is always fibbing about the connection strength for a small time at every initial connection.

3. Rebooting your iPad. Every computer user on earth knows to try this so suggesting this as an attempt to fix anything is like asking someone who is complaining that they can't see if they've tried opening their eyes. And it's straight out of the 1990s Microsoft play book for tards. I thought the apple world had more integrity than this.

I have not called apple or gone to the apple store so I am not sure if they have better answers or not. But I will keep looking and post results if I get any. I suppose that this message won't last long because apple will censor it for my negative comments. I am not trying to be negative, I just expect more from apple.
