Copying a text box in the Powerpoint does not work - Mountain Lion

mine doesn't work too. i copy the first textbox, i can paste it. but even i copy the second box, i paste the first box. is there any solution?

I too have the same problem and would be interested in a solution, short of reinstalling. In PowerPoint 2001 I create a simple shape and attempt to use Command-C to copy and subsequently Command-V to paste, and it clears/cuts the shape. Furthermore, when I click on the shape, the "Copy" command isn't available under Edit in the menu. This is absurd.

For what it's worth, I used the right click on my mouse to copy/paste and it works fine. Still absurd you can't use the keyboard macro.

Must be a Microsoft problem, we all know their software isn't exactly tailored for Apple. In any case, a temporary workaround:

1. Click down on the item that you want to copy (using your mouse).
2. While you are clicking down (on the mouse button), push down the "alt/option" key on your keyboard.
3. Then, drag the item out on the page and unclick the mouse button.

The item should have replicated.

The workaround by andyzuka works for me. In my case, the bug seems related to objects which have not been recently edited. So another silly but usable workaround (until properly fixed) is to edit the object and then undo the edit. For me this re-enables the command c option for copy.

I'm having the same issue. For me, it has something to do with Chrome. I just tried to copy and paste text using Firefox and it pasted into PPT just fine.

Issue resolved by restoring keyboard shortcuts to defaults:

Goto Systems Preferences - Keyboard - Shortcuts

Restore all shortcuts to default.

Under system preferences, chose Keyboard, then chose Shortcuts, and then at the bottom under Full Keyboard Access, click the "All controls" radio button.

Previously, the "Text boxes and lists only" radio button was selected.
