Aug 19, 2012 6:35 PM in response to ElRojitoby ElRojito,GPS, cell, wifi, music, and clock / timers are the only things that will actually run in the background. If you're playing a game and press the ome button, that app is in a frozen state, not using resources.

Aug 19, 2012 6:45 PM in response to ElRojitoby tnbrim,I have about everything turned off that can be turned off. I finally gave up and called apple and told them my usage since last charge. He said that something was more than likely wrong with my battery and to bring it to an apple store so they could test it. Any other advice to try until I make it there?

Aug 19, 2012 6:49 PM in response to tnbrimby ElRojito,To contradict AppleCare, they don't see phones every day like the genii do. 90% of battery issues are user error or the firmware isn't allowing the phone to go to sleep. But, take it in and haven't checked out! They'll say for sure.

Aug 19, 2012 6:54 PM in response to tnbrimby Tgara,I had a similar issue. Turned out there was a podcast stuck on automatic download which was consuming the battery faster than the cookie monster. I found it by accident by going into the iTunes store and looking at the downloads tab. After I deleted the podcast, I went into the Store settings and turned off the automatic download for iTunes apps and music, and this fixed my problem.

Aug 19, 2012 7:50 PM in response to ElRojitoby tnbrim,I don't know what is causing it but it just died completely a few minutes ago. When I checked the usage totals right before it died it said I had actually used it for 3 hrs and 33 mins and it was on standby for 13 hrs since the last full charge. Does this sound normal for this device?

Aug 19, 2012 7:57 PM in response to tnbrimby ElRojito,Take it in. Mine today was 3 hours usage, 6 standby and died after that. But I know mine is fine, it just depends on usage

Aug 19, 2012 8:06 PM in response to ElRojitoby tnbrim,Mine was higher than that but you still suggest me taking it in? Sorry for all the questions I am just new to this phone and I want to get the most of it. My usage today consisted of very little internet usage and what little there was was on wifi. It just seems like all my friends are constantly on there phones and theirs lasts at least a day and a half. Then I constantly make myself use my phone as little as possible and it dies before 10pm

Aug 19, 2012 8:13 PM in response to ElRojitoby tnbrim,By the way ElRojito this may be a dumb question but what is a "genii"?

Aug 19, 2012 8:23 PM in response to tnbrimby ElRojito,No problem. The reason I say to take it in is because they do have diagnostics and it doesn't hurt to get it checked out, it's free -- why not? And genii is the plural of genius. Cheers.

Aug 19, 2012 8:29 PM in response to ElRojitoby tnbrim,Oh okay. The closest store is an hour and 15 min away but I think I'll have it checked. I was just expecting the iPhone to last at least a full day with moderate usage of the device.
