iCal adding alert for 35791394 minutes after events

Since I've upgraded to Mountain Lion, I'm now getting random Alerts set for 35791394 minutes after the event (between one to three alerts with the same number of minutes for each event). I'm syncing with iCloud to an iPhone 4S and iPad (3), both with most recent iOS. All calendars are set to default with None for Alerts (on all devices).

I am having an issue with the calendar since upgrading to mountain lion as well. When I enter an event on my macbook, it has NO alerts set for any account... when it syncs to my iphone, it automatically has an alert set for 12am on the day of the event. My phone is set for no default alerts as well. Is this a bug? I would appreciate any suggestions for making this go away! Thanks...

Add me to the list - After 10.8, I first started getting alerts "at time of event" being set on my iPhone or iPad - even though my prefs are for no alerts anywhere. It seemed to happen (i think) if I changed an event on the computer's Calendar app -?

Just today I started getting the alerts set for 35791394 minutes after the event -

Will try to find some time to call Apple soon.

Same problem here. Clearly a bug.

35791394 is a very strange number!

I'm also getting alerts at 9a.m. for all-day events the following day, despite turning off all check boxes on all devices and in all events (iCal event alerts off; preferences off on iCloud, on the iMac, on the iPhone and on the iPad).

I guess we just cope with it and wait for a fix in (hopefully) 10.8.2

I also have this problem. However, when I look at the same event on my iPad (synced via iCloud) it shows up with an alert "At time of event". Calendar on my Mac (10.8.1) shows 35791394 minutes after event. For the record, that is greater than 68 years after the event. I am working on testing where the even originated makes a difference. WIll update with more info as it is available.

OK... I added a new event on my Mac and it did NOT create an alarm on my Mac. It did show up, however, on my iPad & iPhone. When deleted from the iPhone, it went a way on the iPad. However, my wife's iPhone occasionally has a problem deleting the alarm. It can take multiple tries to do this.

It seems like it might be an iCloud issue with sycing, but I am not sure. I am still not sure where that weird 35791394 number comes from.

Add me to this list. Been working with a Level 2 tech for about 3 weeks now and have sent the "data picture" to him to be examined by Apple programming. He says it's not a bug but I think it must be. Done all sorts of trouble shooting all for naught. Will let you know what they say when I hear back from data support (or whatever they are) later this week.

I've been following this - and have just been holding off contacting Apple, since it seems there's no fix yet from what some of you have gone through - But I've done a few tests tonight and can replicate the alert - here's what I found - maybe this can shed some light on the bug for some Apple tech:

Make event in Calendar - no alert

Open it on iPhone - shows alert at time of event

Edit it on iPhone - now in Calendar it shows Alert - Message 35791394 minutes after.

Edit on Calendar to set Alert to NONE,

iPhone still shows Alert at Time of Event

Edit iPhone to remove Alert to NONE

Calendar still shows NONE (as before)

Edit iPhone timing of event, still alert None

Calendar still shows NONE

---------NEXT-------

Make event in Calendar - no alert

iPhone shows Alert at Time of Event

Remove alert, set to None AND edit time of event on iPhone

Calendar still shows no alert.

-----So it seems to me that an event created first on Calendar with no alert - shows up on iPhone with Alert at Time of Event - then if you edit it on iPhone - it goes back to Calendar with the Alert -Message 35791394 minutes after.

But... if you FIRST remove the Alert on the iPhone before editing the time of event - it doesn't create an alert back in Calendar.

Just wanted to say that I've noticed this problem too. I have an iPhone 4S and a Mac mini. To narrow things down a little, I can say that I use BusyCal on the Mac mini and Week Calendar on the iPhone, and entries created and managed using only those two apps, but syncing through iCloud, were the ones that exhibited this odd alarm setting. Calendars created and managed through these two apps but synced through Fruux have not, so far, exhibited this behaviour.

Add me to the list as well!! I have been to the Apple store twice now and have been working with them but no help fixing the problem yet. They installed iCal Cleaner and tried to delete all my alerts but that did not work. It seems the 35791394 is only in one catagory of my calendar and the alerts go back to January 2012 but don't show up before that-fingers crossed!!! It does seem to be on events origainlly created in iCal on my MacBook Air and that are repeated and that I have mos likely edit on my iPhone calendar. The good news I will be dead in 68 years when these alerts go off!!!
