I am thinking of upgrading my RAM from 8GB to 16GB on my 15" MBP late 2011 model. How would I know which would suit and what models are the best?

what's your take on 512GB SSD?
Either one would be a good choice...many posts here from Samsung users who love them. OWC also sells SSD's.
what about Corsair??? I could get them here in Australia for $150 delivered with lifetime warranty... are tey any good???
Mac certified Corsair sticks are considered amongst the best. I've been using them for the last 3 Macs and am currently waiting for a CMSA16GX3M2A1333C9 16GB kit for my MBP same as yours. Got mine for a mere $79 on an Amazon deal.
Don't know...does Corsair offer a way to upgrade firmware if installed in a Mac? I don't believe they do...but check to make sure. If not, might want to look at something else.

Uh, sorry, but he did start out by asking for RAM! And for a mere $150, an SSD would be somewhat puny, methinks....

Sometimes these Mfg's issue firmware updates to fix issues with their SSD's.
You've lost me then....your second post here, you ask me about SSD's, I respond, you ask about Corsair...they also make SSD's...I respond...now you tell me this is only about RAM.
