How do I delete calendars??

Wierdest thing since got I cloud - I can delete calendars from icloud but not from Ical. Yes, I click on the calendar and choose delete, but nothing happens!

And problem is, some of my calendars keep syncing with my wife's ipad and we can't figure out why..
