iMac local hostname

We need an Apple Support Group that will get back to our questions! In most support discussions the "solutions" are either over most people's heads or their questions are not dealt with. Where can we go - short of calling a local store - or going in to the Genius Bar to simply ask pertinent questions about our everyday computing? This week I got the 2x4 box that says my computers hostname has been changed - no solution seems to exist if you have already uploaded Mountain Lion!

ASC is the correct place for user-to-user support: however, for ML, try their forums. For the hostname, System Preferences->Sharing->allows setting the name. That message usually indicates another computer's using the same name, so you'll have to search your network for another machine using the same name.

Alternatively, http://www.apple.com/support/ for Apple's pros.
