IPAD Screen Stays Black even after reset.

Hello

I have a case similar to the one posted by darKnghtV on Jun 24, 2012 10:12 AM related to screen stays Black.

after I have stopped using the device for 3 days, I came back and the screen came back on. I reset the device to factory setting and it has been working fine for two days.

how can I confirm if the issue is a hardware or software?

if the device is defective, how can I exhaust the screen to show the issue again so I can take it to the service center?

Regards

I have done this few times.

however I had to use screen shot, view the image from my PC to have the unit reset to factory setting. even after that screen wouldn’t start.

when I took it in the car and it was a hot day, I reach the work shop and the unit was really worm, screen came back on and it did not go black again for the past three days.

what is puzzling me, was it fixed after the reset and it is a software issue, or is it a hardware ?

HI all. I had a similar situation. The iPad worked but the display showed nothing. The backlight was on and if I took a screenshot its would momentarily show what was onscreen. Tried to fix it with suggested solutions -

Full reset, did not help, neither did retore. Tried DFU mode and restore from there, but no cigar. Eventually I just slapped it hard on the back and it worked 😝

Can confirm this worked. Same scenario for me, iPad 1 with working backlight, blackscreen, sometimes you can see the display work for a second. Did a hard reset first, after that an iPad restore. All that didn't work. So as Râz mentioned a big pat on the back and the iPad came to life again!

It's an unusual sollution, but hey, it works 🙂

If you just got it, you should take it back to where you got it...they usually won't question you it being defective.

If it's been over a month, many places won't take it back after that...in that case, you should take it to an Apple Store and have them look at it.

It's hard to say at this point if it's hardware or software, but either way if you just got it recently and it's giving you problems from the start...that's bad sign!

Hope that helps! 🙂

Thank you for the prompt response, as a matter of fact, the device was purchased few months back.

For one week, screen was black, but when it came up I reset to factory setting and for two days it is working fine.

When I took the device to virgin MegaStore where I purchased the unit they asked me to visit another store called i-Spot and they refused to take the unit they were totally unprofessional and unfriendly. It seems to me that when they saw the screen back on, they did not want to even touch it.

Can you advise.

Forget the reset...I don't mean to ahead here, but we're not...you need to do a full restore. If at that point you're still having the same issues, contact Apple Care because you most definately be having a hardware issue and since your device is only a few months old, a repair or replacement would be covered under your warranty!!

Restoring the device is easy, just make sure your content is backed up first then go into iTunes while your device is plugged in, select the name of the device under 'Devices' then click on 'Restore'...easy peasy!!

If that doesn't work you can go into an Apple Store or call Apple Care.

I hope this helps, good luck!! 🙂
