If you did in fact buy an ebook through the iBook Store, those are DRM locked to Apple's own iBook reader and thus can only be read on an iOS device (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad).

I should mention that? I do not work for, nor represent Apple - no one here does. We are all just users of Apple products, just like you.
You can contact Apple via the web support contact pages and plead your case with them.
