Q: Notes Disappearing!!

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I have had a recurring problem with Notes disappearing.  I use Notes on both my iPhone and my Mac (Google Apps, not iCould) for work.  Many of my (new) notes disappear from both devices within a couple days of me writing them.

There's little doubt that the Notes app cannot be relied upon and should probably be avoided for recording information intended as a permanent record. In my case records have disappeared arbitrarily and, despite exploring all options, have been irretrievable. There are evidently many others who have suffered the same issue. Unless Apple are able to provide a blanket fix for this, the app should be avoided.

I have not read thru the entire thread so this may have been covered earlier.  All the notes on my Note App on my macbook pro had disappeared.   I then went to the Notes App on my iPad and all the notes were there.

I too am having a similar problem. Yesterday I had a single important note disappear. The oddest thing was 1st it disappeared from the list of notes, but I was able to use the search function to find it and view it. Then a few minutes later the note completely disappeared from the list and search. The note is not in Recently Deleted either. I only sync notes to my iCloud account (they have never been synced to any other mail account). The note cannot be found in iCloud.com either. Very frustrating and I no longer have any trust with any app that sync's to iCloud. I've also had issues with notes being duplicated. I think I may just stop using iCloud all together and do more manual backups. What a pain.

I just had the same thing happen (for the 3rd time) using icloud to sync!!!  This is absolutely ridiculous!  I just finished a sermon that took 3 hours, and it just deleted!!  Apple, get your apps working!  Has anyone figured out a way to recover this?  I will not be using this ap for a while.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.  Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Yesterday, for the first time ever, my most recently created note just vanished! I've been working on it for three days, it's highly technical (I'm an electronics guy) and I can’t just simply 'recreate it'. My iPad 2 (iOS 7.2) is an integral part of my life and I rely heavily on the notes app. I don't have a Mac or any other Apple products and after reading through most of this thread, have yet to find a way to permanently recover this last note. For the record, I did backup the iPad only hours before this happened - I needed to get some downloaded pdf datasheets on to my PC, otherwise my last backup would have been more than a month old. So I did a manual restore and the missing note reappeared.....for a while. I saw it, thought, great! , then did some online work and a few hours later went back to it only to find it had disappeared again! I've tried signing into iCloud using my PC - I basically get a visualization of my iPad, complete with notes and email apps, but that last file is still missing. This has really shaken my confidence in the notes app. It seems also that when Apple break something (I learned this the hard way when I updated my OS from 6x to 7x) they don't ever go back and fix it. For this reason I never update anything, and that's now part of the mystery. As nothing has changed OS wise for at least the last 3 years, why is this suddenly happening now? I also don't update my apps so theoretically my system is the same today as it was yesterday, last week, last year.... with the exception of newly added notes, email, pdfs etc. I usually even go to the lengths of physically disconneting the network cable when I do sync my iPad with the PC, so I can't have updates 'forced' on me. Sadly, it seems the only solution now is to ditch the app and install another one. And this may no longer be possible because it will probably require OS 8 or later.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one. Try posting in the iPad community.
