Apr 22, 2013 2:36 PM in response to ohmitmediaby Steve711,Count me as another with the disappearing notes problem. No problems in the first 8 months since getting the iPhone 4s, but in the last week I've had 4 notes disappear. Seems to happen right when I start closing the Notes app. I had 39 notes, but when I closed Notes, I saw that number quickly turn to 36 as it was closing. Opened it up, and sure enough 3 recent notes were gone. Happened again today, just adding one note, and it blew away another note as it was closing.
I don't use iCloud, and wasn't synching notes to any other program. It's clearly an Apple problem. Pretty sad that they won't fix this.

Apr 29, 2013 7:55 AM in response to ohmitmediaby katyrealestate,WHY ARE MY IPAD 5 NOTES DISSAPEARING????
Go to your Settings Icon on Ipad
Then click on "Notes"
Then check "Default Account" to see where you are backing up Notes.
If you have been backing up to an email account then you will go into your email account directory where you normally check your email and look at directory tree. You should see a tab for "Notes". Your notes will be there.

May 14, 2013 8:10 AM in response to salojidby edpurves,Shocking. You'd think a thread about a problem with "24660 Views" would have been addressed!
Used one note the other day for a quick paste of some info, then I blinked and it had vanished...

May 24, 2013 6:06 AM in response to salojidby Achim63,It happened to me today - ALL of my notes in some folders in iCloud disappeared today (the notes in the original "notes" folder are still available). There was some quite important infos in there - I lost all my trust in iCloud and will go back to use stickies or text files saved to a local drive and backed up (by Time machine ... hopefully that's more reliable than iCloud ..).

May 25, 2013 1:20 AM in response to dramaguruby Achim63,Fortunately I had my backup and by going offline and restoring the notes with Time Machine I could get them back - I had to first copy them to local folders and after going online I could copy them to the cloud again (otherwise they would be deleted immediatly by iCloud, even though I changed them before). Snippets from the web lost their pictures, but those were only a few.
I'll make more use of Yojimbo now (which doesn't sync unfortunately) and make it a habit to copy the iCloud notes to local folders.

May 25, 2013 12:50 PM in response to Achim63by softwater,It's been mentioned before in this thread, but it's probably lost unless you religiously scan every post, so here it is again:
If you need to recover the text of any note that’s gone missing on your mac, try pasting this into Terminal.app. It’s all one line, so copy and paste it as a whole, then hit ‘return’:
cd ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes/Data/Library/Notes; strings NotesV1.storedata | grep body | open -fThe resulting TextEdit window can be searched or scrolled through for your missing text.

May 26, 2013 8:02 PM in response to softwaterby max.barrass,Works. +1. Frustrating like its 1990's!!! Have to use own sticky tape to keep the magic experience happening!!!

May 27, 2013 6:14 AM in response to max.barrassby softwater,Agree. And although the solution above works, I found a better one: Use nvAlt instead of Notes.app.
You can sync it to OSX, iOS and Android devices via SimpleNote. All free, too.

Jun 9, 2013 5:08 PM in response to ohmitmediaby guitarczar,This one drives me crazy. I use Notes to make a shopping list, and the note titled Shopping keeps disappearing. iPhone 3GS, Windows 7, back up to my computer. If I restore to previous backup, the note comes back but only for a few seconds. I tried quickly copy/paste the note, and when the note disappeared, created a new one and pasted the old note in. Worked for a few weeks but then disappeared. Started another new one, hand typed it in, worked through a few syncs but again today disappeared. I do have notes turned on in Settings under my email account. I'm going to try one of the shopping list apps but seriously this needs fixing, and as you can see in my situation, I am not using the Cloud or Google.

Jun 10, 2013 1:19 AM in response to guitarczarby Achim63,Notes is simply not worth the trouble for me any more and as said before I don't trust it.
My solution for now: I made a notes folder in Dropbox and put notes as text files in there. So I have them available across all my devices.

Jun 17, 2013 1:04 AM in response to ohmitmediaby Xuggy,Issue still ongoing in June 2013 (latest OS) - Why no fix?!
Wrote a page of notes today, over the course of a few hours, closed notes and shut computer.
On the road they were not on the phone. I created a new note on the phone. Got home and new note was available on computer, old note was gone.
Used terminal hack but data is not there
Checked other "Note" accounts in icloud, gmail etc but the note isn't there either.
Complete joke and very disappointing. Fix this Apple!

Jul 1, 2013 10:15 AM in response to nejcikby revdrw,I agree, I was frustrated with Microsoft, I had people/friends tell me how much I would love Mac, iOS so forth, only to find that Notes have been lost that were important.
IDK, I would think that Apple geniuses could fix this in their sleep! With so many, I agree that this is inexcuseable. It appears that Apple just does not give a rip about this.

Jul 1, 2013 10:22 AM in response to katyrealestateby revdrw,Yes, I did find a tab for notes there, but not all of them were there, for me, but why they disappear from my device is beyond me.
