Because as implemented, it requires a hardware feature that the listed machines have, that earlier machines do not have.

Oct 13, 2012 7:02 AM in response to Marc Wilsonby XavierWeekers,I don't believe this, because with a softwaretool (airparrot) you can do it..
I think it's blocked by apple.

Oct 15, 2012 8:09 AM in response to XavierWeekersby Marc Wilson,It really doesn't matter what you believe. Apple's implementation requires hardware rendering support, your device does not have that support, therefore Apple's implementation does not work on your device.

Nov 5, 2012 9:21 PM in response to moopageby nicholas180,Marc no offense but your being kind of a jerk dont stick up for a company that hasent done anyhting for you nor aginst you i am a PAID apple developer and a apple certified hardware technicain i know FOR A FACT that it is simply a selling point !!!!!! THERE IS NO ! HARDWARE LIMITATION !!! what would have to be done because of the denser metal and plastic casing over the attena on the airport card the power that goes to it would have to be bosted to stream in the way it does to not limit badn with but doing this would decrease battery in older models
Best,
Nick
