Q: How do I completely wipe and restart my macbook pro?

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro that was given to me that I would like to completely wipe and restart so it will be as if I just bought it new. Is that possible and how can I do that?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Have a look here for the step by step to do a clean install...if you're running snow leopard

If you're running Lion - restart your Macbook while holding down the command + r key and release when you see the apple logo - once you've booted to the disk utility menu - erase your drive then reinstall LIon.
