There is your RAM memory, shown by opening Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities) and there is your Hard disk space, available shown at the bottom of every Finder window.

Open Activity Monitor and look at the bottom panel at your System Memory to show  RAM.

Lion requires 2Gb of RAM but that is a bare minimum. 4GB would be better,

    Lion System requirements

        •    x86-64 CPU (64-bit Macs, with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)

        •    At least 2GB of RAM

        •    Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later (Mac OS X 10.6.8 is recommended)

        •    At least 7 GB of free hard drive space
