The Finder on my imac won't generate thumbnail previews for Nikon NEF files. But it will for Canon CR2 files. This is an office computer so the person using it before me used Canon equipment. I use Nikon. Any ideas?

You need to use Aperture for Nikon NEF files.
I have a D300 and I can view my nef file thumbnails in Finder. Camera RAW support is updated by Apple everytime Nikon adds a new camera.
What camera do you have?
