Compress movie

Dear all

I've made a movie of a musical in Final Cut Pro X and the total file is 118 GB. Now I need to compress this to 2GB max for a flashdrive. Is this possible any way? Please help us.

My suggestion is that you download the free MpegStreamclip.

Drag the huge file into the window, then export using quicktime, and choose different sizes until you find the one that works for you. I have found that, for exporting to YouTube, using 720P h.264, around 7Mbps yields good results.

But I don't know what the end file will be used for.

As Ben an Hugh have said, it's possible…but what about quality?

You haven't mentioned why you want to compress this…how it's going to be displayed. Big difference in perception of image quality from viewing Web video on a laptop versus projecting on a 10 ft screen,

MPEG Streamclip is a good idea if you don't own Compressor, which provides a wider selection of adjustments.

Anyway, my primary reason for posting is to recommend you take a look at x264 encoder. It's a free download and works in Compressor and in Streamclip. It is particularly good at maintaining quality when compressing to small files.

Good luck.
