Ive gone through all the support pages and ideas to fix this issue and no use. I think it might be because I reacently had to do a system restore due to some malware viruses...if I can fix this without having to loose all my data and restoring my ipod too, that would be great. (btw I have an Itouch 4th gen) thanks to anyone who can help.

yes thats exactly the place I went. I went through each step..and no use.
If you've gone through all those steps, and the problem is occurring on multiple computers, then you probably have a hardware problem with the iPod and will need to take or send it Apple.

Just copy the lockdown folder from the previous computer that was last used to successfully sync with your idevice and replace it on the current computer that youre getting the error on.
C:/programdata/apple/lockdown
