Messages dock icon cycling between conversations

Is there a way to disable the VERY ANNOYING behavior in Messages where clicking the Dock icon cycles between all active conversations? I don't know how many times this has resulted in messages going to the wrong person. I know it's not in Messages Preferences but was wondering if there's a hidden pref, such as a Terminal command. I have reported this to Apple as a feature request/enhancement for future releases.
