Why eon't I know my IPod's password? How can you unlock it then?

You can connect the Nano to the iTunes library you normally sync it with. Then disconnect it properly and you should find that is now unlocked. If it is, change the passcode lock or disable it altogether.
Otherwise, your only other option is to restore the device to factory settings in iTunes.
