Apple TV or Digital AV adapter?
I usually use my iPad to watch sports. I'd like it on a bigger screen so plan to play it through my TV. Which is better? Obviously the adapter is much cheaper but is it that much worse?
Thanks

Here's my 2 cents worth. The Apple TV can remain connected to the TV, so once you got it set up it is very easy to use. The drawback is that compared to the AV Adapter, it is not very portable. I think Apple TV is worth the extra cost. On the other hand, if you travel and want to watch videos using your iPad on a TV, then the adapter is a must IMHO. In my case I have both.
The adapter allows for full-speed mirroring - something the ATV can't do. This isn't an issue with standard media playback from Videos or YouTube, but it can be a huge one with third-party media players, games etc.
I also have both. Like GZukes, the adapter is useful for travel and also for those times when my home network is being wonky. However, I originally bought the Apple TV for other reasons (watching content from my iTunes library and now, Netflix and Hulu+). I think it's a great little device, especially at the price.
Thanks everyone for your help. As ill be streaming live sport through my TV via my iPad, would you not reccomend getting Apple TV?
If you do not need to stream videos while traveling and only need it for a home TV, I recommend the Apple TV.
I won't be travelling. Just plan on streaming the live sport on my iPad and watching on my TV. So Apple TV can just mirror whats on my iPad to my TV? Thanks for your help
If you are going to use it only for watch sports AV adapter works but it you want to mirror tha hole screel and to see the same on the big screen Apple TV but you should have good wi-fi connection.
Yes, provided you have at least an iPad 2.
