If you have a case, take the case out especially when you are charging the phone.

Aug 22, 2012 9:30 AM in response to stephenfromlindisfarneby KC7GNM,Try to reboot the phone. Hold the home button and the sleep/wake button down until the phone turns off ignoring the slide to power off message. Then press the sleep/wake button for a few seconds until you get the apple logo.
