Is there an app that allows your iPad screen to be seen on a computer?

I am a teacher with an iPad 2. I would like it to communicate with my computer so I could show what is on the iPad through my computer to my projector and SmartBoard. Is there a way to do this with out using the cord you can buy from Apple?
