iCal still moving calenders....

It works and thank you for your recommendations.

The only caveat is - you have to had your items on icloud to begin with.

Unfortunately, I was not using icloud prior to this update (Maverick) and lost my appointments. It actually reverted to the calendar I was using more than a year ago, when I stopped using icloud.

I've spent 2 days trying to resolve this issue ,including melisolaris method but still no joy.

Why cant Apple just allow itunes to sync like it use to. I don't want to use cloud but am now forced to.

I loved the old ical and never had any issues syncing over 7 devices.

Thanks for the helpful steps, melisolaris.

For users who still receive the "moving calendars to server account" message in step 4, they should consider a restart. I did, launched iCal and the pesky message dissapeared - I could then follow steps 5 to 9 just fine.

Finally got it to work thanks melisolaris

Also had problems with the older event items (older thand a month) not appearing on ical.

Resolved this issue by:

Deleting ical from my imac by un-ticking in icloud

then force quiting ical

then re importing from icloud.

Same problem on ipad mini and iphone 4 resolved in similar way as above but also did a shutdown after deleting calendars.
