Here's a good article about setting up a printer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
It also lists near the top (click "Printer and Scanner Software") those printers that are compatible with AirPrint. I do strongly recommend an AirPrint compatible printer.
Personally I've had good luck with Epsons. I know HPs are popular.
(I have no personal or financial interest in any printer company.)

Aug 22, 2012 6:12 PM in response to Jiggs321by BGreg,I've had good success with Canon printers ... I like the ones with multiple ink tanks, so I just replace what needs replacing, instead of having just a blank ink tank and a color ink tank. Canon has good mac software drivers/utilities too. Currently using an all-in-one MP560 wirelessly.
