Notes doesn't save notes

I'm constantly having a problem where the Note I'm working on isn't saved if I quit notes and open it again, or sleep my MacBook Pro and return to it later. I thought that it was only if I had a crash, but it has happened so consistently over the past couple of days (but not every time when I try to recreate it) I think it's time to return to Evernote. I love the simplicity of the MacOS Notes app, but I've now lost several important bits of text - it's not reliable at all. I've logged it on the feedback site but thought maybe others are having the problem too and might want to share here...

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion, 2.3 Ghz quad core, 8 GB RAM

Are your notes syncing through iCloud? You may have sync issues.

Hey Neil,

Thanks for responding. Yes, I am syncing thru iCloud, and it could be a sync issue, but it's not consistent so it's impossible to tell. When I try to recreate the problem with a series of steps I could send to Apple, I can't. Yet working over 24 hours yesterday it happened twice, and two times earlier this week. They were notes I was working on over several hours so you'd think they had plenty of time to sync to the server or be cached locally.

Hmm. Well, try turning iCloud sync off on just your Mac. Then if the notes stop deleting themselves, then it's definitely an iCloud issue. If not, we can try something else.

Same issue here. I didn't see this thread earlier (oops) so I opened my own. But the jist is " I sometimes use "Notes" to actually take notes in class on my macbook pro. Recently I've lost several of these notes because I forgot to his save before I closed the window, even if I do so after several hours of the Notes window remaining open. Is there any way to set notes to autosave, or even ask me if I want to save before closing the window? I'm kind of surprised that Notes doesn't autosave by default."

That said I too am syncing with my iphone and imac at home both older models/ operating systems. Syncing may indeed be the problem, But I don't want to stop doing so. Sooo.... Onward and upward.
