Q: unable to launch

after installing, trying to rebuild ( or start a new library)  it would not import any photos or I forced quit the application.

Now I am unable to launch aperture

Thanks

What happens when you do? Have you tried staring while holding the option and command keys down? Just the option key?

Given the info you supplied in your request for help it is really not possible  to offer more.

When I hold down the option and command keys I get - aperture cannot be opend because of a problem. This same message also shows uo even if I hold down the option key and even if I try to load and existing library

Create a new user account. Log in as that user and try to run Aperture.

If Aperture  runs then something in you environment is causing the problem if it fails to open even in the new user account you have a system wide problem.

If it is a system wide problem I would try re-installing Aperture first.

If it only fails in your account, quit Aperture, move the com.apple.Aperture.plist file to the desktop and restart Aperture. To see how to move the plist file see Aperure 3: Troubleshooting Basics

Post back the results, good luck

I created a new user, Logged in & tried to run Aperture - no luck

I have already tried deleting Aperture and re-installing still no luck.

When I try to find "com.apple.Aperture.plist" - no Luck I cannot locate it.

What else have you tried. No sense me suggesting things you've done already.

What happens when you launch Aperture? What messages do you get? What behavior do you see?  You should look in the Console logs when you attempt to open Aperture and see if anything is being logged there. Go to /Applications/Utilities and find Console.app and open it.

When you created the new user and logged is as that user did you copy over anything from your original account? What Aperture library did Aperture try to open?

If the problem is in both your account and a new account (assuming you didn;t try to open an existing library) that indicates the problem is system wide. Usually in a case like this re-installing the app fixes it. As it didn;t in your case the re-installing the OS would be the next step.

The plist file is in your home Library folder. In Lion this is hidden. Did you follow the steps in the Troubleshooting web page I referenced to grt to the file?
