I have a i pod classic a1059 20 GB it only works when plugged in wont come on when unplugged can this be fixed why is this happening?

The iPod battery has a lifespan, so if you have recharged it about 400 times, it would be advisable to replace it, at any 3rd Party iPod Repair centre.
