Question about Mail, text color

I am trying to change my outgoing mail font color. In preferences, fonts, there is a place to choose the font color right where you choose what font you want to type in. I chose blue. But while it is showing blue on the color palate, it does not change my typed fonts color. It is still black.

My question is: Is there a way to change the fonts color in my outgoing mail messages as part of my permanent preferences? Or do I need to manually change the color for each message by highlighting the text typed, and choosing he color. Which is a big pain.

I find it hard to believe that Apple would not have a way to set up the text color in preferences.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a work around you might try.

Add a signature to your email account with whatever font you want. Two steps...like this.

1. Create a new email message:

User uploaded file

2. Add a new signature (Mail -> Preferences -> Signatures) and Paste Clip Board into the new Signature editor:

User uploaded file

That's All Folks!

Now, when you create new messages, you should find that the format you are looking for is already setup. All you have to do is tweak the Name,

User uploaded file

Hope this helps!

You can't by default have outgoing Email text in Colour but you can set different Colours for quoted text in replies. See Mail Preferences, Fonts & Colours, Level One, Two, Three and so on.

The problem with sending Email text in Colour is that, not all recipients can receive RichText Emails and that is exactly what you will have to do by adding Coloured text (Convert to RichText). Now if you want to send pretty Emails then select the Stationery Pane Button in the Mail Tool Bar [Top Right].

Normal Emails should always be sent as Plain Text.
