Kaspersky Virus Scanner

I have purchased kaspersky Virus Scanner and since installing Mountain Lion am unable to use it. Have tried to speak to kaspersky but was told " It's not a product they support" so I never got any help. Has anybody got any more info if there will be an update. If not I will have to ask for a refund.

If you want to continue using a product that's not working with Mountain Lion and Kaspersky's support is limited or non existent, that's up to you.

Apple is not responsible for updating third party software.

Kaspersky is not a product I would trust on a Mac. They are relative newcomers to the Mac, and don't know its ins and outs very well yet. Earlier this year, when Flashback appeared, their Flashback removal tool borked a bunch of people's systems. Uninstall it and consider the cost to be a lesson learned (unless you can convince them to give you a refund, since it's not working on your system and they won't support it).

As for iAntivirus, I don't trust it either. It's an improvement over the old PC Tools version of iAntivirus, but still not great. See Beware iAntivirus!

I would recommend that you read my Mac Malware Guide, and then if you still want anti-virus software, use either ClamXav or Sophos, both of which are free and excellent.

I fully support what Thomas has told you. Kaspersky is one of at least half a dozen formerly Windows only A-V vendors that has rushed to the Mac platform after the Flashback epidemic. Give them a few more months to prove themselves and be reviewed by the media before become a test bed for them. There are plenty of other quality applications that have proven themselves over the years and several are still free.
