Okay... not to discount what the other posters have said, I'm guessing you are referring to the actual iPhone speaker. In other words the grills on the bottom of the device.

If that is the case, the iPhone only has one speaker. The grill on the left is for the microphone.

I doubt very much that being in the same room as an MRI would damage the iPhone. Any radiation sufficient to damage a phone would certainly damange any other electronic gear in the room, and would be much more likely to damage you. Are you referring to the left speaker in a set of earphones or external speakers? If so, confirm that the external speakers work correctly and that they are firmly plugged into the iPhone. If that doesn't help, try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

If that doesn't help, then your headphone jack may just coincidentally have failed. Take or send your iPhone to Apple and if they confirm the problem, they'll replace the iPhone.

Regards.

Just a further bit of info. We did a tour last week of one of our facilities, where they showed us Imaging along with OR's, the ED, etc. ...... I spoke to our imaging manager that does a significant number of MRI's per month. They have to screen people to be sure they don't have metal or electronics on them when they go in the room. There are different "zones" in the room, reflecting different field strengths that have different effects. Outside the MRI room might be a 3, at the doorway might be a 4...inside the machine would be say, a 5. Magnetic forces are always present since to turn off the fields would require the machines to be recharged which is very expensive. From what she said, you are lucky it is working at all.....I'm not sure if this would void the warranty or not😉..so it might not hurt to go to the Genius bar...if you're lucky perhaps it wasn't effected. Try what Varjak suggested first and you might luck out.

MRI is no friend to ANYTHING electronic unless manufactured as MR compatible (i.e; medical equipment) at 1.5T or higher. As a registered MRI technologist, I can say with certainty that analog watches are safe, although it will torque on the wrist and drain the battery. No MRI tech on the planet that takes their profession seriously would ever alllow a patient to bring any electronic device into the room. It is not safe. Period. For the patient, OR the watch. At best, it will damage the device. Even car keys with keyless remote access have malfunctioned on patients that "forgot" to take them out of their pocket.

As far as MRI "zones" go, Zone 4 is the magnet/exam room. Zone 3, the final checking point outside of the exam room. Zone 2, hallway/changing rooms, check in desk, etc. Zone 1 is the everyday outside world. Apple Watches must not go beyond Zone 3, or they will experience malfunction.

Dear Friend I am a MRI Technologist , There is no radiation in MRI as we are using high frequency waves , if you can take your apple watch near a microwave , the same way . But the issue is the magnet strength , it is called Tesla . 1.5 Tesla , 3 Tesla . The reason why Apple Watch is not safe ( Any Electronics ) , it can stop the activity of the electronics , like a pace maker , it can stop the battery of pacemaker . Another thing is the strong magnetic field can pull ( Missile Effect ) any thing ferromagnetic in to the center of the magnet . It can damage the expensive watch , or it can injure you . So I never try it to take in to the MRI room .

Satheesh . MRI Technologist .
