Background--did not change to i-cloud, did not upgrade operating system-just stayed how and where i was at--no reason except i was traveling-did not understand what I needed to do-etc-I am just a limited user-email, a little i-photo and search the internet that is it. my son set this up for me several years ago bought all the long term warranties, phone support, etc. never needed anything til now and they have all expired. this is my first trip to this venue and took me two weeks to get to this point--no one in area has a mac other than me-so we can't talk about my problems.

Sorry have trouble seeing.

You seemed to have had no trouble writing the body of your post or reading mine, and at need Macs have easy-to-access assistive features, so this claim is a bit disingenuous. It's also not a promise not to do it again, or even an acknowledgement that I've made a valid complaint.

I'm not going to waste time arguing about this with you. Do the decent thing and acknowledge my point, or else wait for someone who isn't annoyed by this [...] to help you out. Your choice.

I apologize if I offended, this is my first attempt ever to seek assistance with my machine. I not very savy with this machine. I am learning the rules. I got your email and went format/style/bigger to read your text on this site I go to view/zoom in to expand this text. I am sincere, please accept my request for help and if I break the unspoken rules a word is sufficient. One should never say never to old age, I think it is better than being dead. Thank you. Notice the small print, each letter type under glass.

If you hold the command key down (the one with the ⌘ on it) and hit the + key you can make the fonts larger. Might help out, I know as I've gotten up there in years I've had to use it more and more 😁

In the mean time while twtwtw mulls this over, can you supply any further information? Did the system crash or didi anything change before you started having the problem? Are you really running 10.5.8 as your profile says?

We'll start with those for now,

regards

A Null message probably means that Mail has indexed a message without realizing that the message was removed - i.e. it thinks there's a message where there actually isn't one, and gets confused trying to delete a non-existent file. So, the first thing I would try is rebuilding the mailboxes. it's been a while since I've seen 10.5, but I believe the Rebuild command was still on the Mailbox menu. Select the INBOX on the side panel, choose Rebuild from the Mailbox menu, see if that fixes things. if not, try the next most drastic thing: quit Mail, go to the Mail folder inside your Library folder, find and delete the file called Envelope Index, then restart Mail. These are different ways of forcing Mail to reindex things from scratch.
