How to troubleshoot a slideshow problem?
I'm getting strange and variable results from manual slideshows made with iDVD (v.7.1.2), and burned to a disc.
If my slideshow is made from all JPGs the DVD plays back fine. If I mix in movies - short clips made with my dSLR and edited with iMovie (.mov) - then the movies play fine, but some of the JPGs are not displayed when viewed from the DVD. Same bad result from my Sony DVD player connected to my TV and DVD Player on my iMac.
In every case, the first JPG which does not display is the one immediately following a movie - and then every other JPG wont display. If I take out the movie, the same slides play fine.
In some cases, a JPG following a movie does play OK - that is, not every movie breaks the slideshow. Worse, the same movie sometimes does break the slideshow and sometimes does not, possibly depending on what movies may have preceded it??
I can't figure out if there is something wrong with the movie files which is causing them to break the slideshow, or if there is something wrong with iDVD.
Is there any prohibition against mixing movies with JPGs in an iDVD slideshow? Are there some video formats or settings which are not compatible with iDVD?
I've tried trashing the "com.apple.iDVD.plist" (no help). What else can I do?
Should I try to re-install iDVD?
The movies and slides are in iPhoto albums - tho I did not use iPhoto to make the slideshows, could the problem be with iPhoto?
