Q: I have an iMac6,1 which is currently running OS X 10.6.8. I would like to upgrade to Lion.

Don't know if it is possible. Hardware Overview as follows: Model Identifier: iMac6,1; Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo; Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz; Number of processors: 1; Total Number of Cores: 2; LC Cache: 4MB; Memory 2GB; Bus Speed: 667 MHz; Boot ROM Version: IM61.0093.807

I hope that information is helpful because it's Greek to me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can upgrade to Lion. Your system curently has 2GB of memory, which is the Lion minimum. Many people have found Lion runs poorly in 2GB. Your system will support 4GB, so recommend you upgrade. You can certainly install Lion in 2GB, however, a 4GB kit (2 x 2GB) is $60 to $80 from OWC.  If it were me, I would upgrade the memory first. This Apple note discusses how to change the memory yourself.

Lion is no longer available at the App store. You need to call the online Apple store, in the US at 800-MY-APPLE. They have Lion on a USB stick, or I'm told they can also give you a code to download Lion (which would be cheaper than the USB stick).
