I can send pictures as far as I know, but when I go to receive one, it gets stuck on this loading screen and just tries to load until I tell it to cancel (which is the only way I can fully quit iMessage, because it's trying to file transfer)

Thanks, I searched there and found a potential solution in deleting some .plist files in my preferences folder - checked it out... those files are nonexistent. Any insight?

Did you check in the correct place, your Home folder?

My MacBook -> Macintosh HD -> Library -> Preferences -> files should be here?
You did not check your Home folder.
/Library/Preferences
I looked in my home folder. No "Library" folder in my home folder.
in Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu and your users Library will appear...
iMessage on MacBook Pro won't receive pictures.
