new mac user - do files saved on the desktop slow down the computer or save somewhere else?

    Larger files saved to your desktop will slow your computer down to some degree depending on the specs of the computer. Save them to Downloads for example , and sort them from there. Or if you do save them to the desktop, then just make sure you place them in folders within the finder. You can make aliases of them if you wish.
