how to delete archive folder?

i have 3 icloud (blank@mac.com) email addresses. my primary address (and only that address) displays an "Archive" folder in the list of folders, despite the fact that i do NOT use any archive functions:

Inbox

Drafts

Sent

Trash

Archive

Deleted Messages

how do i get rid of the "Archive" folder?

i have confirmed that no archive features are enabled on any of my macs or devices. i don't know why the folder is there at all, and as i stated, it's not present among my other addresses' folder lists.

i do have custom folders into which i sort my email, and the unwanted Archive folder is making the list longer than it needs to be, requiring me to have to scroll each time i move messages to their destinations.

i simply want to delete the Archive folder. any suggestions?

The issue went away for me with iOS 6 (possibly in combination with OSX Mountain Lion on my Macs, as I also use iCloud mail).

If you haven't yet upgraded ot iOS 6, I'd highly recommend doing so. It has many fantastic, new features. Hopefully it would eliminate the Archive folders for you, as well -- although there are other variables, such as the particular email service you use, etc.

Thank you. I contacted them and was told the Archive folder is a new, default folder that was added when we transitioned from MobileMe to iCloud.

The problem, for me, is that although one can *enable or disable* archiving of messages in the preferences (I've never enabled it; it's always been disabled), the folder is visible -- and takes up precious space on the small screen -- even when the feature is *disabled*. This is a problem because I have my own folders into which I sort my mail. But now, the presence of the unwanted Archive folder forces my custom folders lower in the list -- forcing me to have to scroll, each time I archive messages to certain folders. Not a big deal to do once or twice, but dozens of times a day? When it used to be easier? That's a problem.

If the archiving feature is *disabled* in the preferences, the folder should be hidden. Plain and simple. It's a waste of space. (Not to mention the fact that its brown icon commands one's attention because it's more saturated than any of the other icons.)

The representative promised to send my suggestion to the appropriate department.

Thanks.

i totally know what you mean Syncopator cause i too got annoyed because of this when it happened to me. i've learned that if you log to iCloud from a browser you'll get that archive folder and there's no way you can delete it anywhere, not in iCloud, not on your iPhone, and not in the mail app running lion or mountain lion, if you happen to have a mac.

only way i've been able to delete it is in my mac in the mail app using os x snow leopard by right clicking the folder then selecting delete. so go get a hold of a mac with snow leopard installed if you want to delete or else i haven't found a way of doing this :/

hope this helps
