Remove lock remotely on lost iPad

My iPad is locked with 4 digits. I realise tonight that if I lost my iPhone and went into iCloud to locate it, I have option to send a msg with a tone. Only problem is person cannot see my name telephone number to call me if found, as they will not have the four digit unlock code.

I can lock the phone remotely but seems I cannot unlock phone remotely.

How does someone who finds. Y locked iPad know to get in touch with me..?

Choose the option to send a message to the iPad, and make the message say: "This iPad is lost. Please call XXX-XXX-XXXX(phone #) to return it." They can still see the message even though it is locked.

Many thanks for such a quick reply, but when I tried this myself today, because the large digit box shows on the screen asking me to enter my 4 digit code there was no where to see the message about it being lost and to call such and such number. This message maybe behind the 4 digit lock screen

You should be able to hit the "Cancel" button in the bottom left of the keypad to take you back to the Lock screen, where the message should be displayed. In my test I just performed, the message showed on the lock screen, and it wasn't until I swiped the bar at the bottom that the keypad showed up.

Great news, so you typed in the words test and they showed on screen before having to type in unlock code, I could have typed call name ........ Mobile .......... Etc if found and that would show on the screen too?
