Q: Why does my Macbook Pro screen have pink tracers on everything it displays?
My Macbook Pro screen has recently developed a problem where there's a pink pulsating tracer on everything it displays. Please see attached image.
It's a relatively old machine now (late 2007), but is there any way of fixing this? Is it a display problem or a graphics card issue, or maybe something else?
I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Everything is repairable, at a price. I think this is the display:

And a video on how to replace it:

So depending on which LCD you pick, where you are and how good you are with doing repairs, it could cost you anywhere between $100-$400 to replace it.
I would suggest you take it to Apple Store or an Authorized Service Provider to confirm what the problem is and also give you a quote. Keep in mind that time is also money.
Lastly, my own 2007 MBP suffered from this:

And the whole logic board was replaced two years out of warranty. I am doubtful your issue is this though since external worked fine in your case. Still keep this in mind and mention it to Apple Store / AASP first thing.
