Error 1608: Unable to create InstallDriver Instance

I tried to update Quicktime and iTunes stopped opening, so I tried to uninstall. Couldn't uninstall in Control Panel (click uninstall and nothing happened), so I manually removed files. Tried to reinstall and got Error 1608... followed suggestions on Install Shield Website (http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108324). Still won't work. Any suggestions?

I tried those too! My screen was a little different than the one shown in step A. Properties in my computer says "COM security" instead of "Default COM security." There are both edit limits and edit default buttons (I chose edit default). In here, my permissions are either local access or remote access, as opposed to the "access permissions" shown in A.
