Cannot delete file on Macbook Pro

Hey guys, so recently I was just trying to rip a movie with Handbrake, and the m4v file is on my desktop. I tried to open the file to watch my movie and it didnt work. I have VLC and it says "the application VLC can't be opened, -108"

So then I try to delete the file, and it says "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8072)."

I thought that maybe when i ripped the movie that it didn't finish ripping, so I re-ripped it and let it overwrite the original file and the problem is still the same.

I just want to delete the file because its taking up 1 GB on my HDD. Any insight on my problem would be great! Thanks!
