How can I fix this terrible problem with out it costing me everything I have? is it possible to go back to the older silverlight version before this disaster! PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU.

For OSX 10.4 you'll probably need Silverlight 3. Microsoft seems to have matched Apple in terms of removing all trace of old versions of software from the web in general and I have not found a copy of Mac Silverlight 3. I don't suppose when you uninstalled it that you just happened to drag it to the desktop and still have it around? A backup?

You computer could upgrade to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6) at least.

With SilverLight, Microsoft attempted to create their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be - but not to universal acclaim. You can read more about it here:

http://silverlight.net/

So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4/5. The solution is to download and install the latest version of Flip4Mac, which now includes a Silverlight component:

But the latest news is that Microsoft will probably abandon Silverlight in favour of HTML5:

If you want to remove Silverlight the instructions are here:

The most touted versions of Flip4Mac on the telestream site are one for 10.5 and 10.6 and another for 10.7 and 10.8. You can still find the old Tiger version at the link below but maybe Klaus1 knows if this also contains the Silverlight component.

Silverlight Version 1 for Mac PPC can be downloaded from :

It took me a half hour to find it and I suspect it's the only souce on the entire net.

Don't waste your time at Microsoft, CNET or other conventional download sites.

P.S. A company with more scruples than Microsoft would have the decency to archive their previous versions.
