iTunes match fails on upload, loops

It seems that periodically iTunes Match just turns itself off - perhaps when I upgrade. This happened recently and when I turned it back on, entered the update process, examining library, comparing, uploading, etc. When it gets to the upload stage, it says "0 of 18 uploaded" and picks the first file to upload, "uploading xyz" in the status window. It sits there for a about 1-2 minutes in that state, fails and restarts the whole process. It's in a loop, trying to update repeatedly and failing.

Anyone have any idea how can work this problem?

thanks,

Geoff

Thanks, Jim, but that didn't do it.

I deleted several new files from the library. It is no longer trying to upload specific songs, but get to the step and says "Uploading remaining songs and artwork" (0 of 1 items uploaded) and fails in the same way.

I doesn't seem to matter what it is uploading but fails during the third step.

Any other ideas?

I'm having the same problem. If I have files that can't be matched and need to be uploaded, as soon as the upload begins, iTunes uploads a few hundred Kb and then changes its current view to the "iTunes Match" page and starts over at step 1. The only way I'm able to add new songs is if I have no songs pending to upload, and if the new songs get matched. I tried testing a brand new iTunes library with my Apple ID and still wasn't able to add new songs requiring upload.

As seems to be the common thread, I never had this problem before Mountain Lion. I've got a 50Mbp/s cable connection, but even with only 100 Kb/s up, I was able to upload thousands of songs with Lion and not experience this issue. If I try this from my office with the fat pipe (10MB/s up/down) it *usually* works, but sometimes exhibits the same behaviour as when I try at home, which seems to indicate the problem does in fact lie with iTunes / Apple.

I agree. I'm having the same problem. I recently bought a new retina display mbp. Seems like all i have been doing since i got it is troubleshooting and debugging. This is just the latest thing. I thought that apple stuff "just worked" but it doesn't seem that way anymore, i guess. I am so very frustrated and disappointed.

Seems as though Mountain Lion is the common issue in the end. I feel as though Steve Jobs is rolling over in his grave with all of these compatability/bug issues in Lion and Mountain Lion. ***** a@@.

Anyway, I just had four songs from an "unknown CD" that it wouldn't upload. I also just got the infinite loop either on step 2 or step 3. I have contacted support by phone, who had me contact iTunes support by email, who finally got back to me saying they really didn't know and referred me to a couple of general Troubleshooting articles here on the support pages. Wow.

So I am back at the community board, which is the only place I seem to be getting any real help.

At this point, the only way I could get iMatch to finish is to delete the files that won't upload.

BTW, according to the Troubleshooting docs, MP3 and AAC encoding should work fine even if the song isn't recognized in iTunes match. It will just upload the file "as is"...(or its supposed to...and that's why we're here).

The only limiting factor is the file size...song file cannot be over 200MB...which is fricking huge for an audio file. Mine were like 4.5MB each.

Again, this seems to be a ML / iMatch conflict.

Get your sh@t together, Apple!!!

iTunes Match has been doing this to me since shortly after I signed up, which was before I switched to ML.

I could almost stand it if it didn't switch to the Match home screen every frikkin' time, pulling me away from wherever I am and wiping out any search criteria.

Moving to iTunes 11 changed nothing. Way to make it prettier but no more functional Apple!

Fix this!

I decided to search to see if there was a thread that addresses this issue - guess what I found it and LOL I posted it back in August, 2012. ITM is hopelessly broken and not one bit of response or improvement from apple.

In the meantime I've had a good tour of Spotify.

But much of my music now stuck on ITM match as in iTunes 11 you can't access your offline songs until it has successfully updated.

This is aweful! Does anyone at apple read these boards?
