Q: My phone will not go back to the home menu unless I power it off and then on! How can I fix this without apple care?

It started yesterday. I hot a itunes and plug screen - had those before - but then it went away. But...now I cannot get out of any application or window unless I have a message that says Dismiss Read. Is there a fix?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1.1

Work around until fixed. Tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > turn it ON > Tap new white button at bottom of screen. Tap Home.
