Aug 25, 2012 7:41 PM in response to Nicolachby John Galt,Your Mac already includes all the AV software required. Without exception, all commercial AV software for OS X is useless junk.

Aug 25, 2012 7:43 PM in response to Nicolachby cozar,You don´t need one. The OS` self protection combined with sensible behaviour is good enough. You can run ClamXav from time to time (i.e. minus sentry) if you need the feeling of safety.

Aug 25, 2012 11:43 PM in response to Nicolachby Tony S. Wu,I personally use Sophos. And no, OS X does not come with any anti-virus, and no, OS X is not immune to virus or trojan.

Aug 26, 2012 3:22 AM in response to Nicolachby woodmeister50,You may want to get something like ClamXav and have it at the
very least check your mail, but not the whole Mac. The reason is
that even though the Mac is pretty immune to viruses, it can be
a carrier for PC viruses that could infect the PC's of others you
may interact with.
As far as malware, trojans, and phishing, common sense is the
best preventative. If you didn't request it, don't click it! Also,
avoid any torrent sites. They are notorious for trojans and
malware.

Aug 5, 2014 8:36 PM in response to woodmeister50by CoreyO2919,For AV solution I would Recommend SOPHOS it is multi platform. It also has great mobile apps that lets you manage.
The other great part is if you use it as a enterprise solution it has great management tools that also allows your Business to stay compliant with encryption for personal information protection.

Aug 6, 2014 4:13 AM in response to Nicolachby Vishal2014,Why you want to have AV on OS X at first place? Trust me I have OS X from last 2 years I have never felt any requirement to have AV. I frequently use USB drive between my PC & Mac. No issues at all. Why you looking for an AV? ClamXav is good but again is it required or not is debatable.

Yes it does:
Mac OS X Snow Leopard and malware detection
OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mavericks- Protect your Mac from malware
There is also a Malware Removal Tool (MRT) that will run once with each OS X Security update that you install. It's designed to remove all commonly found OS X malware that might have previously been installed and not yet detected.
There is a feature in Safari (and several other browsers) that monitors your browsing habits and will alert you before visiting any site that Google's Safe Browsing system has recorded as dangerous. Make sure that option is enabled in Safari Preference->Security->Fraudulent sites:.

Aug 6, 2014 9:37 AM in response to Nicolachby keg55,I agree with John Galt.
I don't run any AV software. It's pointless, for me.
