Aperture 2.x loupe doesn't work w/new Mountain Lion--help?

I've upgraded to Mountain Lion, but still using older (Aperture 2.1.4)...loupe isn't working since Mountain Lion update. Any thoughts?

I find it ridiculous I will have to upgrade this software, I don't need anything more powerful or feature packed than this. It should last years.

It did last years -- and it will last forever -- on the Operating System it was written for. A significant part of determining the value (and cost) of upgrading your OS is determining which apps will no longer run at all, which ones partially, which will run with an upgrade, and how much those upgrades cost. This has been true since the first PC OS.

Your complaint is really about Mountain Lion.

Not at all. I still use a 1999 laptop to run a Windows program on a daily basis.

The point is that the only obligation the software companies have to you is that their software runs the way they say it does the day you buy it. Your software still does. Any other assumption about their obligation to you is going to leave you disappointed.

If you chose to not bear the cost of upgrading (OS or individual apps), don't upgrade.

Being that the OS and the APP are made by the same company, it shouldn't be such a hassle. I think I'll be better off using a different app altogether that will be updated or patched for a new OS. I still use CS3 and adobe still offers patches for their stuff.

Not exactly made of money here. typically when I'm left high and dry, I'd go somewhere else, plain and simple. I also been endorsing Aperture since I've been using it when I contributed to a couple of books. So, Apple looses out too for the lack of fixing something that could be a simple patch, rather than hitting me for a full price upgrade.

Was my bad being a loyal customer.

I agree Del. it's not as if the entire thing has stopped working. They've clearly just thrown a spanner into the works and messed up one tiny thing from working to force the upgrade. Personally apple can get stuff in this instance. Been doing less and less photography anyway and have other things to spend my money on at the moment.

Disappointed customer.

I've had the same problem: Aperture 2 loupe works fine in Lion on my MacBook, but not in Mountain Lion on my brand new MacBook Air. And yes software will get broken by new OS's from time to time, but it should be possible to find this out before buying the new OS, rather than afterwards; otherwise how do we make an informed choice?
