How do I change ipad default location??
I've moved (9 months ago) and my iPad doesn't know it. Surely there's a way to update it? I'm 75 mikes from where I used to be. Not even the same area code.

If you have a WiFi only iPad, it gets its location from your WiFi router. Until your router makes its way into the database, there's not much you can do. I've heard that if an iPhone accesses the internet through the router, it will speed up the process.

Uh, okay, so my Airport Xtreme is living in the same house as the iPad. The ISP it's connected to is different, so why does it still think it's 75 miles away?? I can't believe Apple, of all companies, can't figure out a way to fix this. This sounds like a Microsoft boob-up.

Because the location of the router is not in Apple's location database. The fact that it's in the same place as your iPad is irrelevant as you have an iPad with no location capabilities of its own.
So my original question remains: how do I change it??
To clarify my original answer, there isn't anything you can do. Sorry.
Me thinks meg st.clair is apple employee covering for them. I have not moved, changed isp nor changed router. However last month my ipad moved 80miles without me. It had correct location for 12months then decided to move. No help from anywhere, frustrating too as maps weather and search bar in internet always give false location

You can think whatever you like. That doesn't make it correct. I do not now nor have I ever worked for Apple. No one here does except for the Hosts who have a purple apple avatar.
You've *got* to be kidding me! So if I moved to Walla Walla or Pago Pago, it's forever going to think it's in Roanoke, Virginia? Come ON already. That's ridiculous. When even my car knows where it is 24/7/365, and we sent men to the moon 45 years ago, Apple expects me to belive I can't change the iPod's default location?
Remember the big scandal about iPhones, iPads, etc. reporting router and cell tower locations? And people wigged out and thought Apple was spying on them? This is part of that issue.
If you have turned off location reporting on your iPad or your Airport Extreme then the WiFi database cannot be updated. If you left the settings alone eventually the new location of your router will be reported and added to the database.
There is no "default" location of the iPad. Drive to a place with a free hotspot and sign on to it and it will report the correct location.
If you have a WiFi+3G/4G iPad it will use the GPS chip and not have this problem.
Try this:
Cheers, Tom 😉
Thanks Tom. Even though your description on the fix was for a previous IOS, this got me where I needed to go to make my changes in IOS 8.4.
Cheers
